We were called by a carer to visit a seriously ill patient. Her wood-burning stove went out at night when no one was there to look after her and she was freezing. The patient had bought an inexpensive infrared heating element, but it hardly gave off any radiant heat.

We have pointed out that you should only buy if you can provide proof of a test certificate for efficiency. If the efficiency is close to 70%, it is a heating element with a good heating effect and low energy consumption.

We have AbegSun radiators on the ceiling and heat our whole flat with them.

We bought Abegsun heating elements two years ago as a trial. This year, we fitted our entire house and the flat in the second building with these radiators.

The heat is very pleasant and you can heat the individual rooms very flexibly with it. Above all, I no longer have as much work as with the wood-burning stove, which always took a long time to heat the rooms.

Here, too, a very cosy warmth is achieved. Unfortunately, we now know that wood heating is not very sustainable because the trees need 100 years to grow back - and wood or wood briquettes have also become very expensive.

We only use our second flat in the city sporadically. That's why we've installed AbegSun infrared radiators there. If the central heating was running, it would be too expensive.

The advantage now is that we can have the flat warm in a few minutes without having to heat it up first. I think that in future infrared heaters will be installed in all rented flats, because then everyone can determine their own heating costs.

It's much cheaper and more practical because I only ever heat the rooms that are currently in use.

Yes, we believe that advice is very important. After all, this is a new heating technology that is very different from the basic convection heating systems used to date. Operating the heating elements with a radio thermostat is different to a hot water radiator where you simply turn the valve clockwise or anti-clockwise to set the temperature.

With the radio thermostats, you have to press + and -, but you can use them to set the exact comfort temperature you want anywhere in the room.

I got to know ABEG SUN products at the exhibition in Kassel. After a good, comprehensive consultation in the company's office, I decided to buy 2 032-MTD devices.

Delivery and on-site instruction were sufficient and good. Attaching the system to the sloping roof was initially a bit tricky.

But since the manufacturer provided me with fastening material with a bevel, it was no longer a problem. After a phone call with the company, this challenge had already been further developed in order to improve the magnet holding.

Operating the thermostat also took some getting used to. But it is easy to use and doable later on. In my opinion, it is a good alternative to conventional heaters, even if I am currently only using it as a supplement. I am impressed by the product.

I spent two days at an IR association conference in Würzburg. Experts there predicted that infrared heating systems will replace all other hot water heating systems, including heat pumps, in the future.

Several examples were shown where the annual energy costs were zero in conjunction with battery storage and direct power supply.

When a PV system was added, there were sometimes surpluses - clearly, this is the future!
